Stopping gas three days a week Pakistan’s textile output fell by 35%

The spinning and weaving industry in Pakistan refuses to shut down gas supply three days a week, saying that lack of energy has affected 35% of their production capacity and investments worth several billion rupees.

Industrialists demand that the government ensure at least five days of natural gas supply per week. This is because alternative fuels, including boiler heavy oil and diesel, have boosted production costs.

Ha Shan, CEO of the Nagra Spinning Plant, said that stopping for three days a week will cause delays in fulfilling international orders and damage the textile industry. More than 140 days of gas stoppage each year affect 35% of the textile industry's production capacity.
