sew and tell: lisette pajamas B6296

It’s been about a month or two since I wrapped up these pajamas. They’ve been hanging patiently in my closet, waiting for their moment in the spotlight—aka some decent photos. Now that they’re finally getting their chance to shine, I can’t wait to wear them and break them in a bit. There’s something about wearing clothes for the first time that makes them feel truly yours, isn’t there? Do you ever feel that way? ![pjs-b6296](src="path-to-your-image" alt="pjs-b6296" width="580" height="942") Name: Liesl Gibson Where can we find you on the internet? Oh, you know. Here. --- **Project Details** **Pattern:** Lisette B6296 **Fabric:** Liberty Tana Lawn Did the fabric work well? Absolutely! When I was in Italy last October, I had this pattern in mind and made sure to hunt down some Liberty fabric specifically for these pajamas. Liberty lawn is such a joy to sew with—it drapes beautifully and feels amazing against the skin. Plus, I’d been eyeing my own Woodland Clearing collection for Robert Kaufman, which is also cotton lawn, so I knew exactly what I wanted. The best part? At the trade show, the Liberty fabric was surprisingly affordable, allowing me to grab 3 1/4 meters without breaking the bank. --- **How did the sewing go?** I sized up to a 10 for the top and a 12 for the pants based on my bust and hip measurements. I love how they turned out! PJ sets are meant to be relaxed, and these fit similarly to my favorite pair. While I’m thrilled with the overall fit, I do wish I hadn’t added an extra inch or two to the top’s length and sleeve. They were perfectly fine without the extra length, so I’ll keep that in mind for future projects. --- One of the highlights of this project was working with piping. I bought some pre-made piping and found it surprisingly easy to incorporate into the design. After basting it onto the right side of the fabric, I simply pinned the layers together and stitched close to the edge using my zipper foot. To finish, I pressed the seam allowances toward one side and used the same foot to edgestitch the piping. It went faster than expected, especially considering how many areas I used it—around the center-front edge, collar, pocket seams, and even the cuffs on the sleeves and pants. --- **The Best Part** There’s nothing quite like slipping into something soft and comfortable, and these pajamas deliver. As luck would have it, I tore the elbow of my old, beloved PJs the day after we took these photos, so these have already become my go-to pair. I’m especially proud of the pants—they fit beautifully and look great, if I may say so myself. That curved yoke seam on the back is genius! (And yes, it’s awkward enough posing in my PJs, but I’m keeping my dignity intact by not sharing a full-on rear view.) --- For next summer, I’ve already picked out fabric for the shorts version of these pajamas—I’ll definitely be making those soon! --- If you’re looking for more style and fabric ideas for the Lisette pajamas, you don’t have to look far.
