Chinese towel anti-dumping duties Taiwan Ministry of Finance initial inclination to renewal

Taiwan imposes anti-dumping duties on imports of towels from mainland China. It expires at the end of May this year. The Customs and Tariff Commission of the Ministry of Finance has completed the initial judgment a few days ago and it is inclined to continue the levy. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will be notified in the near future to continue with the determination of industrial damage and the results will be submitted again. The tax rate committee considered whether or not to continue to levy anti-dumping duties, and the anti-dumping tax rate is 204.1 percent.

An official from the Ministry of Finance of Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance indicated that the deadline for the original levy of the case was expired on May 31, 100 in 5 years. Taiwan’s Yunlin County Towel Industry Technology Development Association applied for a continuation levy to the Ministry of Finance. The Customs Tariff Committee recently held a review meeting resolution. The import prices of imported towels in Mainland China are still low, and the exporting countries involved are in a large amount of energy. Dumping will continue or recur as a result of the suspension of anti-dumping duties.

The Ministry of Finance of Taiwan will inform the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the near future whether the industrial damage will continue or be recurring because of the suspension of anti-dumping duties. The relevant results will be submitted to the Tariff Commission of the Ministry of Finance for further deliberation and whether the anti-dumping duty will be renewed.

Officials pointed out that the international anti-dumping duty rate after the sunset review remains unchanged, and the anti-dumping rate of China's imported towels still maintains 204.1 percent. However, before the investigation and confirmation is completed, the anti-dumping duties should continue to be levied.

According to the statistics of the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, before the import of towels in Mainland China was not subject to anti-dumping duties in 2005, 6.5 million kilograms were imported each year. After anti-dumping duties were levied in 2010, the import of mainland towels was reduced to 910,000 kilograms.
