Anti-dumping tariffs imposed on Turkish textile fabrics from Brazil and Brazil

Business Club March 30th According to a report by Pakistan’s “Commercial Records” on March 29, the Turkish government recently issued an announcement deciding to impose an additional tariff of 18% on denim cloth imported from Pakistan to bring its total tariff to 24.5%. The decision will be implemented starting from the 120th day of the publicity period, that is, July 24th, 2011. Denim cloth previously landed will be exempted from additional tariffs. In order to protect the domestic textile industry, Turkey previously launched anti-dumping investigations on some textiles imported from Pakistan, Bangladesh and China.

Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Pakistani textile ministry adviser, said that Turkey’s imposition of anti-dumping duties on some textile products from Pakistan will severely impact Pakistan’s textile exports. Berg said that at present the bilateral trade volume between Turkmenistan and Pakistan is 940 million U.S. dollars, of which Palestinian exports to Turkish textiles amounted to 380 million U.S. dollars. The imposing of anti-dumping duties on Pakistani textile products will cause Pakistan to lose about 200 million U.S. dollars in textile exports to Turkey.
