Significant Cancellation of U.S. Upland Cotton Export Contracts in 2011/12

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. net contracted export of 7171 tons of land cotton in 2011/12 for one week; shipments of 102,444 tons were increased by 13% from the previous week and 12% from the average of the last four weeks. The net contract for export was 1,451 tons of Pima cotton in 2011/12, and 3,629 tons of shipments. Another net contract for 2012/13 70,170 tons of cotton and Pima cotton 1928 tons.

During the week, China signed a net contract for importing 26,785 tons of upland cotton in 2011/12, and shipped 33,657 tons; the net contract for 2011/12 was 703 tons of negative Pima cotton and shipped 1,565 tons. The net contract is to import 30,799 tons of land cotton in 2012/13.

In 2011/12, upland cotton was contracted to China (26785 tons), Morocco (2903 tons), Ecuador (2404 tons), Indonesia (1383 tons), and Turkey (-25016 tons) and Vietnam (-3107 tons ), Peru (-3016 tons), Mexico (-2563 tons), Japan (-2223 tons).

In the 2011/12 season, upland cotton was shipped to China (33,657 tons), Turkey (20,389 tons), Brazil (7,189 tons), Thailand (5693 tons), Indonesia (5625 tons), and Mexico (5216 tons).

In 2011/12, Pima cotton contracted to Bangladesh (295 tons), Pakistan (68 tons), Turkey (23 tons), Japan (23 tons), and Korea (-1157 tons), China (-703) Ton).

Pima cotton was shipped to China (1565 tons), India (567 tons), Japan (386 tons) and Indonesia (363 tons).

In 2012/13, upland cotton was mainly contracted to China (30,799 tons) and Turkey (26,399 tons), and Vietnam (-295 tons), Mexico (-181 tons), and Japan (-113 tons) had negative net contracts.

In 2012/13 Pima cotton contracted to South Korea 1157 (tons), Pakistan (476 tons), Thailand (249 tons).
