Half of EU apparel recalls in 2010 originated in China

In August, the EU announced a total of 74 recalls of textiles and apparel, which was a year-on-year increase of 164 percent. Among them, 36 products originated in China, accounting for 49% of the total EU recalls in the month, an increase of 6.2% year-on-year.

Most of the major recall products are baby clothes. The reason for the recall is that they are easy to cause suffocation, airtightness, and easy to swallow.

Hungary had the largest number of recalls, and Hungary issued 40 recall notices.

From January to August this year, the EU initiated 338 recalls of textiles and apparel products, an increase of 117% year-on-year. Among them, the recall of Chinese products reached 175, an increase of 127% over the same period last year.
