Colombia has introduced a new textile import policy
In order to avoid the smuggling of textiles and footwear and unfair competition for domestic products, the Colombian government recently introduced a new decree called “mixed tariffsâ€.
It is reported that the decree applies to the import of textiles and footwear. Importing countries must not have signed a free trade agreement with Colombia. Prior to the implementation of the ordinance, the import tariff was 15% of the cost of the product, but the new "mixed tariff" reduced the import tariff to 10%, plus $5 per kilogram of imported product. This decree will be implemented until the end of next year. However, textile and footwear companies require the government to implement the decree permanently.
