Egypt's cotton exports in December and February increased 12% year-on-year
The Central Bureau of Mass Mobilization and Statistics of Egypt (CAPMAS) issued its fourth annual report on the export of cotton from December to February.
The report said that between December 2011 and February 2012, cotton exports reached 357,700 Kantar, and exports during the same period of 2011 amounted to 317,500 Kartar, a year-on-year increase of 12%, due to Egyptian cotton’s low price.
In 2012, Egypt imported 56.10 million cantals of cotton and imported 311,000 cantals in 2011 due to an increase in local cotton production.
